What is N.O.A-BSP?

Navigation, Orientation, Auditory - BioSonar Ping

This is a tool aimed at increasing accessibility and complimenting existing features for visually impaired people. 

This project was done as apart of my disseration at Abertay University - Games Design and Production (GDP)

Controls and Intended Method of Play

This project is intended to be played with no visuals. So, headphones on and screens off. 

This project has support for Mouse and Keyboard as well as Controller

Controls:

- W/A/S/D or Left Joystick ------------ Move around (Navigation)

- Mouse or Right Joystick ------------ Look around (Orientation)

- Q or Right Trigger -------------------- Start Echolocation and interact (if in range)

- E or Push Left Joystick down ------ Reset your eye level 

Bugs:

I apologise, coding this intensely has caused a series of bugs I am hoping to patch out. They are listed below with intended fixes:

  1.  NPC, Level 1,  second voiceline not activating

    • This is an issue with the AI blackboard, something that is very new to me. The NPC is meant to instruct you to meet at a Dwarven elevator. This is located through the market stall maze, on the left exit.

  2.  Settings not saving between main menu and Level 1, then resets at level 2

    • For level 1, any setting you wish to activate, I would press the menu button (See entry 3 before doing this) and activating it there.

  3. Menu not opening with "#" or "grave" keys

    • I am very aware of this issue, it has caused nightmares for me during playtesting sessions. My best fix for this is to press the menu button on a controller to open it.​

  4. Setting Menu Disabled in Level 2

    • This Issue was likely caused to a simple typo somewhere, I am unsure where this is however is my top priority to fix at the moment. Sadly, there is no real fix for the player. I have however included dev settings to toggle certain features on and off. For the echolocation words, press [NUMPAD X]
